Revision points

  • 1. Whenever (different) people (or things) are combined they create an implied relation.
  • 2. Any 'relation' may be synergistic or may offer opportunities for synergy.
  • 3. A team of 3 has 100% fewer (internal) relations than a team of 4.
  • 3. Each member (25%) of a quartet is responsible for at least 50% of the team spirit.

Positive Team Roles

Could POUT be used as a template for the 4 working styles?

Team Roles

square-50cm-spacer.jpg POUT-box.jpg

P = Potential (known and unknown resources that may be useful)

O = Opportunities (openings that become clear and that invite actions)

U = Unnoticed (resources that may be intangible or unnameable)

T = Triggers (suitable and effective catalysts for change)

  • In the above figure, POUT is mapped as a quadrant
  • The values of the X axis can be made to correspond to:
    • Left=evaluative and Right=creative
  • The values of the right-hand side of the axis may denote:
    • Bottom=ambiguous values and Top=explicit values
  • This matches our system of 'working styles, i.e. where:
    • P = Envisioning
    • O = Pushing-Doing
    • U = New Knowing
    • T = Languaging

ACTIONS

  • We will run 2 parallel Creative Quartet team sessions.
  • Each team participant will adopt a different POUT term as his/her action role.
    • Team A: Re-design the canteen system
    • Team B: Re-design the roof garden system above the Foreign Office
