The room was laid out as a tetrahedron - to facilitate 3 (paired) meetings in each quartet'
An open, free workshop for students, designers, managers, teachers (+citizens:-)
This took place on 20th June, 2012 at Goldsmiths, University of London in New Cross, South East London. Each workshop lasted ONE HOUR.
This event was FREE - We showed participants a practical method for taking local, existing resources and creating new synergies of abundance. Participants were assigned to a team of 4 (a creative quartet) in order to co-create these synergies.
SYNERGY IS A GIFT - we aim to challenge the popular view of 'sustainability' as a negative, belt-tightening exercise. Instead, we will offer a unique, optimistic, synergy-finding approach. This works by looking for existing and available things that - when combined - can create an unexpected abundance.
SYNERGY - "The behaviour of whole systems unpredicted by the separately observed behaviours of their parts taken separately" - see more Buckminster Fuller definitions
SYNERGIES ARE COMPLEX - see EXAMPLES
- Although their complexity is challenging, they offer unlimited abundance (if we can find them).
- Everyone who participates will experience in working with some meta-design tools.
- Each participant was awarded a Metadesigners certificate.
